Typical price ranges in India

These are the ranges you will commonly see quoted by freelancers and agencies in India. They are a guide for budgeting, not a price list — the next section explains what pushes a project up or down within each range.

Type of websiteWhat you usually getTypical range
One-page siteA single page with your services, contact details and a WhatsApp button₹10,000 – ₹40,000
Small business website5–10 pages on a template, contact form, basic SEO setup₹20,000 – ₹75,000
Custom-designed websiteDesigned from scratch for your brand, CMS or blog, animations, speed work₹75,000 – ₹3,00,000
Online storeProduct catalogue, cart, payments, orders and delivery settings₹50,000 – ₹3,00,000+
Web application or portalLogins, dashboards, bookings, business rules, admin tools₹3,00,000 and up

What actually changes the price

  • Design: template or custom. A good template is fine for many businesses. A custom design costs more but fits your brand and your customers’ journey.
  • Features that do work for you. Appointment booking, quote forms that route to the right person, online payments, customer logins and live chat each add real effort.
  • Content. If you have your text, photos and product lists ready, the project moves faster. If the team writes and shoots content, that’s extra.
  • Languages. Each extra language, such as Tamil or Hindi, adds translation, layout checking and testing.
  • Integrations. Connecting your CRM, billing software, WhatsApp or Google Calendar takes setup and testing.
  • Speed and SEO groundwork. Fast pages, proper headings, structured data and a clean site structure take care but pay back in search traffic.

A ₹15,000 website vs a ₹1.5 lakh website

Both can look fine in a screenshot. The difference shows up after launch:

Budget siteProperly built site
DesignA theme with your logo and coloursDesigned around what your customers need to do
Speed on mobileOften slow, heavy pluginsBuilt and tested to load fast on mid-range phones
EnquiriesA generic contact formClear calls to action, tracked enquiries, WhatsApp and booking
OwnershipSometimes on the developer’s hosting accountDomain, hosting and code in your name
After launchChanges are hard or charged separatelyAn easy way to edit content, and support terms in writing

A budget site is a reasonable start for a new business that just needs to exist online. Once the website is meant to bring in customers, spend on the parts that turn visitors into enquiries.

Questions to ask before you pay

  • Is the design custom, or based on a template? Which one?
  • How many rounds of design changes are included?
  • Will I be able to edit text and photos myself?
  • Who writes the content, and who provides photos?
  • Is basic SEO setup included — titles, descriptions, sitemap, Google Search Console?
  • How fast will the site load on a phone, and how will you test it?
  • What happens after launch: support period, updates, and the cost of changes?
  • Will the domain, hosting and code be in my name?

If the website needs logins, bookings or dashboards, it’s really a web app. Our guide on web app vs mobile app vs PWA helps you decide what you actually need, and what decides the cost of custom software explains how those projects are priced.

Questions people ask

Can I get a good website for ₹10,000?
You can get a basic online presence for that, usually a template with your details. It’s a fair start for a brand-new business. Don’t expect custom design, strong SEO or features like booking and payments at that price.
Is WordPress cheaper than a custom-built website?
Usually, at the start. WordPress with a theme is quick to set up. Costs rise when you need a unique design, heavy features or high speed, and plugins need regular updates. For many content sites it’s a sensible choice.
How long does it take to build a business website?
A template-based site often takes one to three weeks. A custom-designed site usually takes four to eight weeks, mostly depending on how quickly content and feedback arrive.
Do I have to pay every year for a website?
Yes, for the domain and hosting at minimum, and usually for business email and updates. Ask for these yearly costs in writing before the project starts.
